Mud Circle

2,000 lbs of Maryland clay -  10" x 144"  (diameter)

Left to dry over the duration of the exhibition.  A shallow cone was carved into the clay by a blade.  The clay measured 1" thick in the center and progressed to10" thick on the edge.  Over the course of the exhibition, the mass progressively transformed from muck to a dried slab, from the center outward.  Vegetation began to grow spontaneously on the window lit side of the slab.
